How long do dentures last?

Will my dentures last Forever? Dentures can theoretically last for over thirty years if properly cared for and cleaned on a regular basis. However, it is recommended that you replace your glasses every 5 years or so.

Your denture specialist will inspect your dentures for symptoms of ageing at your check-up appointmnet. Generally, the denture covering your lower teeth is the first to deteriorate. Dentures may need to be re-fitted as you get older; as our gums shrink, dentures may need to be adjusted, such as relining, to be comfortable.

People without teeth lose 0.5 mm of jawbone height per year, which means that dentures will require regular check-ups to be comfortable in the mouth. If left untreated, loose dentures can result in gum sores and infection.
